A Wave from the Beach

Last Saturday I took Alyssa and Sarah on a picnic to celebrate their birthdays.

We went up to the sand dunes south of the lift bridge in Duluth. It was pretty fun. The day was gorgeous and we just sort of hung out and had a beach adventure. The wind was blowing off the lake so the temp was a little lower than an oceanside beach but other than that it felt like a coast.

We ate lunch, kicked around a soccer ball (Alyssa wanted to use it as a volleyball, must be her Iowa-ness), and chatted about life. It was amazing how reality was instantly suspended the minute we stepped onto the hot sand. I highly recommend going there in the summer because it is really relaxing.

Weirdest thing happened though when we were walking over the dunes to the water. We passed Cassi Goosen (No idea on spelling) going the other way. At first I thought it was her but we kept walking. I waited until she was about 20 feet past before calling her name in case it wasn't her she wouldn't pay attention. Well as you can guess, she turned around. We chatted for all of about a minute though because her dad had just thrown her into the water. She is a bit taller since she left Bethel. Maybe there is a growth hormone in the water in Duluth...
