Them winds of change are blowing
Ever had a boss resign on you? I did last week
and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
So most all of you know what I do. If you don't,
ask me some time. If you don't know me, lets just say I am a programmer in the
government sector. Hm, that makes me sound all subversive like I work for a spy
agency or something... Too bad I
don't.
Anyway, my boss resigned last
week because she is going to help her husband manage his construction company.
Her last day is next friday. I think we are all screwed here. Such is life
though.
I can't say I blame her at all
because if I was in her position and my family lived in the cities, I wouldn't
hesitate for a second to go work at my family's company (which coincidentally is
construction). It would be so much fun! I would get to hang out with my parents
and older brother, we could take family vacations, and generally have a good
time all the while making a living at something we all have a common interest
in.
Of all the people I know that work
in a family business, 100% of them really enjoy it. Granted the evidence there
is anecdotal, chances are pretty good that most would enjoy it. I just wish
Mankato was closer to the cities because I really like living here and I doubt
my parents will be moving the company anytime soon.
So any of the readers work the family
business and do you like it? If you don't have a family business, what would you
like it to be if you did?
